clams

I approached this still life a little differently, almost like an illustration. I sketched it roughly a few times anxious to jump into the painting. The next morning I'm sitting down with a cup of coffee and there's that morning light hitting the clams through a window. It looked so nice I photographed it twice. I felt the subject matter was bigger than me so I referenced the photo and the clams and planned it out. On this base, I approached the painting in a somewhat expressionistic manner. I feel good about this representational thing on a flat background.
