Representationally Abstract Cape Cod

The ocean doesn't stop to inspire me (did I really write that!). I guess I spend more time on the Cape than I think and seem to have a lot of reference, pics or otherwise. This is a view from Provincetown. Compositionally direct and abstract with colors and representation true to nature and my nature.

Rob Gronkowski as a Hamburger Head!

I tried a Gronk in one of my favorite mediums — Hamburger! This is a fun thing to do while on vacation on the cape and I highly recommend if you want to put a twist into grilling. Cape Cod always inspires when I'm painting but hamburger sculpture is a whole different fun thing. So for anyone not familiar with my hamburger sculptures (see earlier posts) they turn into hamburger paddies later.

Just wanted to post this quickly:

The weekend was productive at the Artist Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place. My previous post has a pic of this piece in process—here it is finished.

Painting in Process Event

Here's a pic of a painting I was working on today at the Artist's Studio and Gallery at Patriot Place. This is for the Red Inn series I've posted before. In the background is Ann Gorbett (my lovely wife) working on a painting of the Library in Provincetown. She's doing a workshop in Ptown in September, see her blog anngorbett.blogspot.com for more info (she's a palette knife expert).

Gronk!

These Patriots caricatures wouldn't be complete with Gronkowsky. He's a great athlete and also a wild and crazy guy.

Coach Belichick Fasion Plate

Having just done Tom Brady I couldn't resist doing the New England Patriot's Coach Bill Belichick.  He is unequaled in his high fashion sense.

More From the Red Inn Series

Here are two more additions to the Red Inn Series. They are in the same vein as my recently posted paintings of Hatches Harbor in Provincetown. The second is the larger of the two, 24" x 36", which is a size I like though I'd like to work bigger as this direction develops. Also with this one I painted a flat even area with no texture for the sky. I like the contrast with the rest of the textured areas of the painting and the feel of a vast atmosphere it has—also the minimalist play of color. These are in oils and will soon be hanging at the Red Inn in Provincetown MA.

New Series

I want to share a new series of paintings I'm excited about.  These have a mix of an abstract and somewhat representational approach. These are of Hatches Harbor near Provincetown. They are also hanging at the Red Inn in Provincetown.
